Stranger Things S2 E3 Deep Dive Discussion | Chapter 3: The Pollywog

Dustin cares for the new species he believes he has discovered and nicknames it “Dart”. Bob advises Will to stand up to what’s scaring him in his nightmares. Frustrated with Hopper, Eleven decides to leave the cabin and venture out on her own. Jonathan and Nancy contact Barb’s mom, knowing the government is most likely listening to their phone call–and they are. Hopper learns the center of all the dead pumpkins is the Department of Energy. Joyce discovers the monster Will has been drawing is real. Dart grows legs and escapes from the kids at school just as Eleven arrives but doesn’t tell anyone. Meanwhile, Dustin finds Dart but doesn’t tell the group. Lastly, Will is completely enveloped by a dust tornado monster that’s been chasing him in the Upside Down.

Ross has an unidentified thing on his lower back. Phoebe dates two guys. Pete buys a ring, but not the one Monica imagined. Phoebe introduces Ross to Bonnie with Rachel’s permission. The gang goes to the beach with Phoebe so she can learn more about her parents. Bonnie shows up to surprise Ross; but after she gets balded by Rachel, Ross and Rachel kiss. Phoebe finds out Phoebe at the beach is her birth mother.

The boys go trick-or-treating where they run into Max. Nancy, Steve, and Jonathan all end up at the same party where Nancy decides to binge drink to deal with the pain and secrecy around Barb’s death. Hopper continues to investigate the rotting pumpkin patches. Eleven, left alone in the cabin, transports herself to the black room to try to connect with Mike. One year after Season One concluded, we’re briefly introduced to a new group of kids in PA as they escape the police; and at least one has powers similar to Eleven.
Back in Hawkins, Dustin and Lucas are tracking the moves of a new girl in town with gaming skills, Max, who has a hot-headed older brother. Mike continues to try to contact Eleven with no luck, and is getting into trouble and acting out. Nancy and Steve are saying “I Love You” yet Jonathan continues to catch Nancy’s eye. Joyce and Hopper are by Will’s side while he sees a doctor at the Department of Energy. And at the end of the episode, we learn Hopper is keeping Eleven safe in a cabin in the woods.

Stranger Things S1 E8 Walkthrough & Discussion | Chapter 8: The Upside Down

Joyce and Hopper find and revive Will in the Upside Down. Mike, Eleven, Dustin, and Lucas are cornered at the school by Dr. Brenner’s people until Eleven takes out several agents. Jonathan and Nancy set the Demogorgon on fire after Steve knocks it into a bear trap. The Demogorgon is then lured into the school where Eleven is able to destroy it but also vanishes in the process. Finally, we learn that one month into the future, Will continues to experience glimpses into the Upside Down and is coughing up pieces of the creature that possessed him.
